‘Frass’ is a term used to describe the casting (poop) and exoskeletons left behind after insect larvae are removed from a compost pile. Frass is loaded with far more nutrients than ordinary soil and is typically used to stimulate plant growth. It can be used on the farm, in the home garden, or even for houseplants. is the left-over product from growing
black soldier fly larvae (BSFL), including larvae waste, exoskeleton sheds and remaining feed ingredients. This all-natural fertilizer contains a nutrient dense blend of N-P-K and minerals.
What is Chitin?
Unlike most traditional growth enhancers, BSFL frass contains chitin –a protein found in the exoskeletons of insects. Because plants and insects have evolved together for millions of years, plants can detect the presence of chitin in soil. This informs them that insects are present, causing the plants to drastically increase their defenses against potential predators. The result is plants with stronger cell walls, reinforced structure, and healthier, larger leaves. So, the presence of chitin causes plants to develop defenses against insects, which greatly increases the health and vitality of your plants.
We only feed our larvae organic by-products from the wine and fruit processing industries. These valuable nutrients would otherwise have ended up decaying in landfills, releasing greenhouse gasses.
Packed with macro-elements (N, P, K) and micro-nutrients (Zn, Cu, etc.), which enable your plants to grow robustly.
SuperFrass contains a living ecosystem, introducing beneficial bacteria and fungi into your growing environment to help rejuvenate and regenerate your soil.
Contains Chitin, a natural molecule that helps plants to defend themselves against disease pathogens and predators, such as root feeding nematodes.
SuperFrass helps with water retention, meaning you use less water. Contains cellulosic fibres that bind nutrients for a slow-release benefit.
